puppy playroom

Friday 5th February 2021

Good morning all, hope your week has been a good one?

We have a number of new talks, activities and sessions planned over the next days and weeks, so I thought I would share with you a few of them.

Kicking off tomorrow with a Saturday talk from Chris Barlow; “Images of 💗 Love : A Celebration”, from Cleopatra and Mark Anthony to Kim Kardashian and Kanye and the rumoured divorce!

The talk will start at 11am, and not 11PM as stated in an earlier newsletter, though it would have been interesting to hear Chris singing ‘in the midnight hour’ 😂😂😂

Wednesday 10th Masterpieces Community Zoom

This session will look at two or three Flemish works from the Masterpieces exhibition in more depth, examining why these paintings hold such allure and why the artists were considered to be at the very top of their trade.

Rubens’, Milkmaids with cattle in a landscape, ‘The Farm at Laken’.
Rubens’, The Assumption of the Virgin.
Van Dyck’s, Christ Healing the Paralytic.
Rembrandt’s, Agatha Bas

Tai-Chi class

From Helena: Free Tai Chi, Friday 12th, 11:00 – 12:00

Exercises are essential to good health. During these lockdown days, it will be fun if we can gather together to do some low impact, gentle movement exercises to help improve our circulation and strengthen our muscles and limbs. Simple breathing practice will also be taught to enhance oxygen intake into our lungs and the entire body.

Why not give it a go? Just wear comfortable clothing and have a chair ready for use.

From Stuart: Free Talk – Options for Energy, Tuesday 16th Feb. 2:00 – 3:30pm

Stuart Sweeney will talk about the different options for energy generation today. We will then look at future energy requirements and how they might be met including a new option, nuclear fusion – radically different to current nuclear fission power stations.

We will close with a Q&A session.

Options for Energy

From Chris T:

With more time being spent at home, we are all looking for new, exciting, but safe ways to beat the boredom of being within the same four walls. Here are some MORE suggestions!

3. Check in to the puppy playroom! If you’re a dog lover, then chances are you’ll love the opportunity to check in on a group of puppies in their playroom – even more fun, is that they don’t know that they’re being watched. Live footage from the puppy playroom is filmed by hidden cameras located in the Warrior Canine Connection (Maryland, USA).

4. Explore any country in the world with MapCrunch. If you’re not sure what sort of adventure you’d like to go on, but you know you like exploring, then MapCrunch could be a great place to start. As soon as you land on the site, you’ll be shown a random Google street view of somewhere in the world

From Jean and Caroline:

Jean and my girlfriend both sent me (nearly at the exact time) photos of the evening sky on Wednesday, what glorious colours they both captured. I was working indoors at the Phoenix Garden at the time, so missed it!
