Wednesday 28th April 2021
Hello Everyone,
This week I have been practising my Spanish and trying to reacquaint myself with the Spanish verb tenses. There are just so many! I am enjoying it though and I have found many helpful apps to play games and practise.
This week we have pictures from the Walk and Talk tour John and Amber organised and also from the Kew gardens outing.
Have a great week,
Bea 🐝

Enjoy Reading?
O Pioneers! (1913) by Willa Cather
O Pioneers! (1913) was Willa Cather’s first great novel, and to many it remains her unchallenged masterpiece. No other work of fiction so faithfully conveys both the sharp physical realities and the mythic sweep of the transformation of the American frontier—and the transformation of the people who settled it. Cather’s heroine is Alexandra Bergson, who arrives on the wind-blasted prairie of Hanover, Nebraska, as a girl and grows up to make it a prosperous farm. But this archetypal success story is darkened by loss, and Alexandra’s devotion to the land may come at the cost of love itself.
Another one of my favourite Lockdown reads. I was given this book as a present for my birthday in February 2020, just before the Lockdown began. It’s a short but powerful read I couldn’t put down, I think I read it in two sittings. It is the first in a trilogy that doesn’t focus on the same story in each book but the themes of nature, love and growth persist.
Do you have any favourite books you would like to share? Have you been reading during Lockdown?
Walk and Talk Tour
“To be honest I didn’t really know what to expect from the walk but how I know where to look for historic monuments I will be looking out for everything! It was a lovely day and the weather helped! Chris did a good job and was very welcoming and friendly.”
Quote from an attendee.
