Sunday 19th April 2020 – Day Twenty Seven
Good morning – Happy Sunday!
Thank you to everyone who let me know that they enjoyed The Phantom of the Opera, it was great to get so many messages and shared memories. Thank you, also, to everyone who has completed the survey, we do still need more of you to complete it! It would be great to get to 200 responses.
One suggestion already noted, is to have the recipes as an attachment and shorten the length of the emails, so will do that from now on
What can I share with you today? – FOOD / SHOPPING
From Dominic: FIND A PRET. We have reopened 10 shops close to hospitals so we can help frontline healthcare workers get more access to freshly prepared food. We will also be making 7,000 extra meals a week to donate to our homeless charity partners. Find out which of our Pret shops are now open below.
From Christine: Thought you might like to see this Curry Recipe from my colleague Sophia. I thought I would share a short 6 minute video of me making a very cheap, quick, vegan curry, as I do not have any other notable skills, apart from being from Pakistan, and being able to cook a cheap, quick curry.
It’s ok, tastes nice, and I thought it might help with some of the “what the hell are we making for dinner tonight?” issues that I am sure we have all been having. You can make it in around 20 minutes, and if left for a few hours the flavours really develop.
Please reduce the chilli a bit, it’s hot. Adding more potatoes reduces the spices, as potatoes absorb flavours. It will feed around 2.5 people easily.
ART & CULTURE
From Nicky: Conway Hall presents: Thinking on Sunday: Feminism, Interrupted – Disrupting Power, today @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm. More than just a slogan on a t-shirt, feminism is a radical tool for fighting back against structural violence and injustice. Feminism, Interrupted is a bold call to seize feminism back from the cultural gatekeepers and return it to its radical roots. This event will now be held ONLINE. Please register for a ticket using the “Book Now” link Conway Hall is a charity and we politely ask you to add a donation of at least £3 when registering for a ticket.
From Theresa: Join Global Citizen, the World Health Organization, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and many more artists and healthcare experts as they raise funds for global COVID-19 response efforts. Learn more at GlobalCitizen.org/TogetherAtHome.
From Chris B: Online exhibition: Tanoa Sasraku: O’ Pierrot. LUX presents two films from their current exhibition Tanoa Sasraku: O’ Pierrot as an online exhibition. Employing the narrative of Pierrot the Clown, and the aesthetic of Kenneth Anger’s pioneering avant-garde, queer film Rabbit’s Moon, O’ Pierrot (2019) explores the quest for British identity from a lesbian, mixed-race, British perspective.
From Chris T: Hampstead theatre and the Guardian have teamed up to stream a series of acclaimed productions for free. Howard Brenton’s Drawing the Line, about the partition of India, is currently available to watch until 10pm on 19 April. Tom Beard gives a gripping performance as Cyril Radcliffe, the British judge who must work out the division of the Indian subcontinent.
From Cllr Sue Vincent: 29 things you (probably) didn’t know about the British Museum. You may think you know the British Museum, but there’s always more to discover. Here, we highlight a few secrets to delight and surprise even the most enthusiastic Museum fan.
Never afraid to jump on a bandwagon, we’ve compiled a handy listicle of some of the weird and wonderful facts that make the British Museum unique. Maybe you knew it all already? If you did, you probably work here already…
If you have not done so already, please could you take the time to complete the questionnaire, your suggestions, comments, ideas are really important and useful to us.
