Dragon Hall Radio
Dragon Hall is currently working in partnership with the University of East London to produce radio shows for Radio Active 101.
Radio Active is in its first year of production with Dragon Hall and YOH (a youth club in Hackney) being at the heart of it all. The young people and staff at Dragon Hall had training back in July 2012 on how to produce an internet radio show.
Currently we have already produced one radio show which was broadcasted in November 2012; this broadcast will soon be available on our website.
Dragon Hall’s radio broadcasts have different focuses.
The young people look at Music – which includes producing their own music.
An interview group – interviews different people from recording artists, to actors to local police. This allows young people to get to meet individuals in the community but also different professionals, this gives young people an opportunity to build on their inter-personal skills, communication skills and also confidence in speaking and meeting new people.
A reviews group which reviews different events which include local police meetings, theatre productions, films in the cinema and music.
The presenters – for the radio shows we try to rotate the presenters so everyone gets a chance to have a go.
The technical group – help to produce all the pieces for the radio show, they tend to put the finished product together for the pieces to be broadcasted.
So please join us in being a part of this project whether you’re a listener at home or a young person involved in the work we do.
Contact Dragon Hall if you wish to become involved!
We are proud to be sponsored by Converse UK for this project. They have been fantastic in getting involved in many different aspects of our work at Dragon Hall, providing volunteers from their staff to help activities and events, using their ‘Secret Santa’ event to buy presents for specific young people at Christmas and using their charity budget to support this Radio Project. THANK YOU from all of us at Dragon Hall Radio!
