Friday 9th July 2021

Good morning all, I hope your week has been a good one,

I have had many suggestions made by members over the last few days, so, rather than sharing our regular timetable, I thought I would send a newsletter with information and ideas, which I hope you will find useful.

If you have any suggestions, ideas for future activities, outings and classes, please do drop me an email

Enjoy your weekend – anything good on the television 🙂

John

It's Friday!

Backgammon Group

From Pen R: Backgammon Group

Backgammon is one of the oldest known board games. Its history can be traced back nearly 5,000 years to archaeological discoveries in Mesopotamia, modern-day Iraq. It is a two-player game where each player has fifteen pieces (checkers or men) that move between twenty-four triangles (points) according to the roll of two dice. The objective of the game is to be first to bear off, i.e. move all fifteen checkers off the board. Backgammon is a member of the tables family of games, one of the oldest classes of board games

If any members want to meet up for a game, chat and coffee once a week, please let me know.

From Jerry P: Keep masks on public transport

Many transport workers are worried that when masks are no longer required on public transport passengers and staff will be put at risk. A simple thing like wearing a mask helps protects everyone. Please will you sign the petition to protect passengers and transport workers by keeping masks mandatory on public transport. It takes less than 30 seconds to add your name:
