Monday 11th May 2020 – Day Forty Nine
Good morning all – did you watch the briefing last night? What did you make of it?
Please let me know.
Ultimately the same message (not the ‘stay alert’ one) still remains; those who have an underlying health condition which makes them “clinically extremely vulnerable” should remain at home. People aged over 70 are advised to take particular care to minimise contact with others outside their household.
Today marks 49 days of Lockdown – wow can you believe it.
To support you through this period we can offer the following:
- Regular phone call (even daily)
- Support with shopping
- Free Food Parcel
- Zoom activities
- Signposting you to advice (benefits, IT problems, health related)
Please get in touch if you need help!
What can I share with you today?
FOOD / SHOPPING
Our Foodbank service has only been going for a couple of weeks, but is already having a huge impact on the local community (and wider). Thanks to Phil and all the volunteers who are making regular visits and doorstep deliveries. A couple of the members have shared their gratitude and support for the food bank:-
From Ann: “…..I just want to let you know about the lovely food deliveries. They are super, always a surprise, lots of fresh vegetables, meals are very generous and very tasty. There is always a lovely little extra..like chocolates or something sweet. I am very grateful to you all and of course to the Covent Garden Community Centre. Bless you all and stay well….”
From Penny: “…At these uncertain and destabilising times it has been so heartwarming to receive food from the 7Dials community team. Food is a necessity so many of us are struggling to afford. Thank you all so much for keeping us afloat, a little healthier and being there for people in this community. You are all wonderful”
Foodbank – this service has begun in earnest, Phil and his volunteers are now getting FREE food parcels to residents in the local area. We are flexible with regards to who we can help. If you fit the following criteria, please contact us:
- Self Isolation due to symptoms
- Isolation due to vulnerable or shielded status
- Income reduction because of lockdown & crisis measures
- Income reduction while waiting for benefits to arrive
- Homeless

From Anna:
I am taking a break from painting, while I’m waiting for a fresh supply of paint from Great Art in Shoreditch. It’s a German store, relatively new in the UK, very good for art materials at reasonable prices:

FUNNY SIDE OF LIFE
From Jerry Happy Friendship Week!
I’ve learned….
That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.
I’ve learned….
That love, not time, heals all wounds.
