Saturday 11th April 2020 – Day Nineteen
Good morning all! Firstly sincere apologies for the incorrect link that was set out, I am working on it today and hoping to get it sent out this afternoon. Thank you to everyone who responded and let me know, much appreciated!
What can I share with you today – FOOD / SHOPPING
From Sue: Boots that will remain open during the Virus lockdown is the Boots at Brunswick Centre, near the Russell Square Tube Station. The Flagship store at 361 Oxford St will remain open, as will the store at 8 the Strand, which is near Trafalgar Square. Based on the site closure list from Boots, the Charing Cross Boots store will remain open.
The Boots store at the Brunswick Centre is quite a small store, and I am sure that they will police the number of customers in the store at one time, in order to observe the 2 meter rule. Still it is close for those of us who live on this side of the Garden. I do hope the Long Acre store reopens soon. It is a shoppers dream come true.
From John (important): Lewisham Council rang last Friday and said they were about 2 weeks behind because the letter from his hospital got overlooked. So anyone who has an extremely vulnerable letter should contact their council. They will pass your details onto one of the major supermarkets so you can get a delivery.
From Nicky: Seven Dials Market Cornershop. A brand new home delivery service bringing you quality fruit, vegetables and independent drinks. Direct to your door. Delivered by their staff every Tuesday and Fridays, between 9am and 6pm. Areas covered include the postcodes wC, EC or W.
From Cllr Sue VIncent
Mediterranean Style Chicken
This dish has been provided by Shanai Mclune, and is healthy and easy to prepare at home. The preparation time is 35 minutes, cooking time is 40 minutes, difficulty is easy and it serves two people.
Ingredients: Chicken Leg and Thigh, Soy Sauce, Chicken Seasoning, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Olive Oil, Olives (Optional), Spring Onion, Ainsley Harriott Spice Sensation Couscous, Cucumber, Tomato, Sweetcorn, Lettuce, Celery, Tzaki can be made for a salad dressing (optional).
Method:
Preheat the oven to 160C
• Season the chicken in the soy sauce, chicken seasoning, salt, pepper and garlic and onion powder. Leave to marinate for however long you can so it can really soak up the seasoning…yum!
• Place chicken in the oven for 60mins then when cooked on the inside turn up the oven to 200C to crisp up the skin.
• Follow the instructions on the back of the Couscous packet. They provide a simple step by step guide to make the perfect Couscous.
• Plate up and add the Tzaki to the salad if you opted for it.
• Add the spring onion for garnish.
ART & CULTURE – From Pen: In these crazy and uncertain times, the Museum of Youth Culture have updated their website with exciting new content and developed new downloadable resources for at-home activities, including advice to start digging through those family albums, colouring in posters and digital exhibitions.
From Chris: celebrate Easter at home with wwt (Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust). Why wetlands?
If rainforests are the lungs of the planet, then wetlands are the lifeblood. As much as we need air to breathe, we need water to live. The conservation of our wetlands is essential to all life on Earth.
From Theresa (my personal favourite link today): BOND by Terry O’Neill. As Iconic Images are unable to open their gallery doors to you, they are bringing the exhibition to your home.
Iconic Images Gallery is pleased to announce that our new exhibition, Bond: Photographed by Terry O’Neill, will be available to view online. Through a virtual walk-through app, online catalog and new original content and stories from the book of the same name – fans will be able to virtually walk-through a tour of some of Terry O’Neill’s greatest images that captured the world of James Bond.
From Enrica: B E A U T Y is a short story of the most important emotions of life, from birth to death, love and sexuality through pain and fear.It is a tribute to art, to life and their disarming beauty.
A path of sighs through the emotions of life.
A tribute to the art and her disarming beauty.
Lastly I would like to share a link from our very own Genia. You can hear her choir – Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir sing a few songs on BBC 2 RADIO (At the foot of the cross) – They recorded at the BBC STUDIOS a week before the lockdown so it means so much to them especially as they cannot sing together due to the lockdown
Have a lovely Saturday and I will be in contact with you soon, with a link to my survey (fingers crossed)
Today Leah is on duty – her number is 07716 480 049 , and you can contact me ANY TIME on 07759 646507 in case of an emergency
