Portraits of Dogs exhibition
A relaxed morning at the Wallace Collection
Tuesday 25 April 2023 – 10:30am – 11.30am
(with tea and coffee provided afterwards)
This major new exhibition, Portraits of Dogs: From Gainsborough to Hockney, is now open. The exhibition explores our devotion to four-legged friends across the centuries. Through carefully selected paintings, sculptures, drawings, works of art and even taxidermy, the exhibition highlights the unique bond between humans and their canine companions.
Dog portraiture developed as an artistic genre contemporaneously with its human counterpart – dogs are represented in the earliest cave paintings alongside humans – and it flourished, particularly in Britain, from the 17th century onwards. More than any other nationality perhaps, the British have both commissioned and collected portraits of dogs.
No other visitors will be in the exhibition space at that time, join me for a relaxed morning at the Wallace Collection.
I have EIGHT FREE tickets, please use the link below to register your interest:

We Ain’t Dead Poets Society – A Gathering of Live Poets
Wednesday 3rd May 13:00 – 16:00
The Temple of Ideas is a group where unstoppable over 55s congregate in order to expand and share their knowledge through conversation, music, poetry and art. Harking back to the French literary and philosophical salons of the 17th and 18th centuries, the Temple of Ideas provides a platform for discussion, debate and performance.
For this next meeting the Temple of Ideas presents an afternoon of poetry and song. Kicking off the proceedings will be two of London’s finest – Tim Wells and Paul Birtel.
Afterwards we’ll ask for any other poetry, word, comments, karaoke, rap or other offerings from the audience. So if you have anything you’ve been dying to express, please pull it out from under the bushel and brandish it here.
Or you can just listen and sip tea – whatever works for you. 😉
